A black dress and a tie front shirt

In my continuing attempts at getting more wear out of my wardrobe and trying new items together, this is what I put together today.

I love this dress, however, its so low cut in front and I've battled with that since I bought it.  I've tried wearing a cami underneath, I've tried closing it with a brooch and a safety pin, then I tried these little nylon goodies that clipped on your bra and cover up the gals -  however, I found that they would creep up, stick to my skin with static and simply was not working.  Sigh!

Today I tried it with a statement necklace first, then with a little lace bra but still too much of the gals was showing, so I then decided to try it with this shirt.  It worked the best so far.

THE DEETS :
Dress : Truworths
Shirt : Edgars
Necklace : The Silver Copany
Shoes : Shoecity
Handbag : Gift a few years back from my daughter Taryn

Hope your day was fabulous friends and I do hope you're finding more ways to what you already have.

Boyfriend jeans and a statement necklace for Visible Monday

So folks, how do I look?
Denim with floral shirt and tan shoes
Woolworths Re Boyfriend Jeans - Handbag and Shoes (Kelso) from Edgars
Statement necklace from Legit (Same with different coloured hangers available at Sass Diva)

WHEN : Monday, October 21st

THE DAY PLAN : The rain that thankfully arrived yesterday is still with us today and is making it really chillo.  Since I have really straight hair, the damp just does not let it hold any styling I've done to it - so today is an iffy hair day and its on these days that I with my hair were long enough for a ponytail.  I need to run out to the bank, but mostly will be spending the day at the pc reading my module 4 and looking at marketing opportunities for Simply Sassy Photography and hashing out my thoughts on a competition I'd like to run.

I'm still very much in the 'comfy casual smart' look and with that in mind, decided that since  I haven't worn my boyfriend jeans in a while, I'd pair them with a thin cotton long sleeved shirt I bought at Mr. Price ages ago.  I choose it because its thin enough should the day warm up a little and if not, I can throw one of my pashminas over for warmth.  I must admit, I'm not sure I'll wear the shoes out when I head to the bank, but probably a pair of brown heels.

I'm not sure I've ever shown this bag off on the blog, mostly because I'm not sure I've ever actually used it.  I'm making a concerted effort to use what I have, all this crazy indulgence must end ;-).

A grey and wet day outside -  maybe I'll swap the shoes before I head out
THE DEETS :
Jeans : Woolworths
Shoes & Handbag : Edgars
Shirt : Mr. Price
Necklace : Legit
Bracelet : Kays Jewellers (gift from my daughter)

I'm linking up with the ever stylish and lovely Patti over at Not Dead Yet Style for her Visible Monday linkup.  Hop on over and see all the lovely stylish ladies.

Coral lace and mint stripes

WHEN : Thursday, October 17th

THE DEETS :
Tank - Pick 'n Pay
Shirt : Mr. Price
Jeans : Identity
Shoes : Meltz
Belt : Foschini

THE DAY PLAN: Today is Courteneys' 17th birthday.  We called this afternoon but had missed her as she's already left for schoool, so the boys and I send her a voicenote over Whatapps where we sang - we sounded horrid ... lol.

Yet again my day got sidetracked and I did not quite achieve what I had set out to achieve, so tomorrow I'm under some self imposed stress.  Its been a week of unexpected distractions and I'm just not getting to what I need to get to.  I don't know if anyone feels it, but the days sure slip by quickly.

I ended up going around trying to the find the items needed for a school project that Liam has to do which is to create an electric parallel circuit - from searching everywhere I thought it could be, to going to the stores and driving around trying find other options - I came back empty handed, but luckily Schatz found one.

This evening we had lovely chicken and avo wraps for dinner.  I bought the multigrain wraps from Woolworths and roasted a chicken.  Oh my, it was so good.  I think we'll have some for lunch tomorrow as well.

Well, my evening is now over and I must head to bed - hope your day was wonderful friends.

White denim, nude heels and a crochet bolero

WHEN : Tuesday 15th October

THE DEETS :
Capris: Woolworths
Cami: Contempo
Bolero : CCI (Cheap Chinese Import - Wording stolen from sisters friend)
Sandals : Fashion Express
Bracelet : Bought at a store in Graskop
Earrings : Truworths

THE DAY PLAN : Besides working on the final edits of the photos of little Lisa, I had planned to get some reading of my current module done.  I'm wanting to get both of these things finished by the end of the week.

I decided to put up the tripod and quickly take my pictures of the outfit as I find that by the afternoon its a bit mad in our house, so I decided to quickly do them.  Took all of about 5 minutes in total.

I love these capris, so much so that I also bought a red and mint pair when they were in store and which have all been featured many times on the blog.  They're comfy enough to sit in the entire day.  The sandals I bought about a week back.  I wanted wedge nude sandals as they're so versatile and you can really wear them with everything.  Since I'm a 'retrenched recession`ista reworking her wardrobe' now, I'm really not shopping much, but I can't resist a little purchase here and there.  I bought these after my sister had bought a face cream that I had in my stock basket, so I didn't feel too guilty.  I wanted a pair of nude sandals and when I saw these, except for the brushed suede finish, they were perfect - the height of the heel and the colour.

My cute crochet bolero has maybe made one appearance on the blog.  Schatz bought it for me and I can't remember the exact store, but I'm pretty sure it was at a Chinese store.  I really like it, but find I'm challenged on how to style it.  Today it seemed to fit well.

Well pretty ones - thats all for me for today.  I'm now headed off to collect my nephew, then my son and then to drop my nephew and mother at their home.

Have a magnificent day now.

Sunday outing

WHEN : Sunday 13th October

THE DEETS :
Jeans : Identity
Tank : Unknown
Shirt : Pick 'n Pay
Sandals : Fashion Express
Watch : Fossil
Pendants : (I've gone blank and need to go find the info ... lol)

THE DAY PLAN : Today Schatz went off for a ride and while he was gone I spent some time getting motivated for my week by looking at some Blogilates videos on YouTube and then did my weekend beauty routine.

I then got the boys up and made smoothies, checked out my emails and had just started the kitchen when Schatz got back.  He then suggested we head out to the Norwood Rooftop Market.

It was much the same as it was when at Rosebank but I did enjoy the outing.  Schatz bought me a cute bracelet at one of the stalls that I'm just itching to wear.  I'll be showing it off this week without a doubt.

Stripes, coral and for good measure, a bit of lace.

Lace skirt with striped top

Simply Sassy Style:

WHEN
September 26, 2013 : Thursday

THE MAIN ATTRACTIONS:
Top : Contempo (This season)

Skirt : Truworths

THE BASICS:
Kitten heels - Can't remember where I got them

THE FINISHING TOUCHES:
Pendant : Mr. Price
Watch : Tempo - Taryn was going to give it away, so I nabbed it for myself, because she does not wear yellow gold.
Sunnies : Feebies with the latest Fairlady magazine ;-)

THE DAY PLAN : The weather bureau threatened that the temps today would rise 320C and that had me in a quandary as far as what to wear.  I decided that since I intended to be indoors most of the day anyway, I'd be able to handle this outfit, since the top is 97 % polyester and 3% elastaine, its really not the thing to wear out in the heat.  But since all I did in the outdoors was walk to my car and back, it was totally bearable.

I worked on module 3 yesterday, but when I uploaded the images, the colours looked really off, so I spent this morning re-reading some of the module and then went about taking the photos this afternoon.

Jarod and I went off half way through and did the dinner shopping and then he took me for coffee.  I think he was feeling a little lonely because Liam has been at his friend since yesterday.

We came home and I'd just got back to work when the little man arrived.

THE VERDICT : I bought the t-shirt last month from money given me for my birthday.  I like the additional coral and mint stripe at the top.  I have not worn this skirt in a while and thought I'd give the stripes of the top and the lace finish of the skirt a try together and I liked how it looked.

ITEMS SEEN PREVIOUSLY : Top worn previously here and skirt worn previously here and here.

Yesterday was Sunday

I started the morning helping Schatz spread lawn dressing in anticipation of Spring.  I love a thick green lawn so we've started watering and feeding and the dressing is the last of it - except for the continual watering.
I then spent some time puttering around on the pc and then my little guy Liam and I had a coffee date.  We went down to M&B and ended up sharing a caramel chocolate cake and milkshakes.
It was pretty warm yesterday so I wore my high-low dress, boots and a cardigan.
Details : Dress : Mr Price | Boots : Rage | Belt : Woolworths | Cardigan : Truworths | Necklace : Woolworths

My cute boy was also wearing purple and we had a pleasant hour or so alone having our cake and eating it and then we did some shopping.

I do so love this dress and I think once the high-low hem is totally a 'no-no' I'll cut it into a straight hem.  I just love the comfy t-shirt material and print of it.

Stripes and shorts

We're on the road to Spring already and in all honesty, I'm expecting quite a few cold spells yet.  We've had an extremely mild winter this year and I read that it has an impact on the ticks in the area and we can expect a bit on an problem with them .. with cats and dogs, its a big worry for me.  So we'll be shaving them down early this year and taking them for dips without a doubt.

With being home, I've become a little lazy about photographing my outfits as they're really casual and mostly jeans and I despite having worn a dress and some skirts I've ju.st not gotten around to photographing the looks.  I do admit, I get up and get dressed and do my hair and face every day - although I'm finding I'm wearing a lot less eye makeup than before.

But I've decided to keep blogging even though the style is fairly casual and of course, my new challenge to rework last seasons style without adding.  No set income means my clothing budget is a great big Zero!  My biggest challenge is that despite having quite a lot of clothing, a lot of it is very office work orientated - so dressing it down is going to be my challenge.

Admittedly though, yesterday I bought three items with money I have been given for my birthday.  I bought a navy and green striped dress from Ackermans for all of R100 which I can also wear as a tunic or swimming cover-up, olive/khaki green ankle grazes and a pair of black cotton cargo-style pants from Miladys on their sale.  I think the black pants will work great for when I'm photographing babies and families as they're thin cotton with a bit of stretch and not as restrictive as my jeans and with summer on the way they'd be a lot cooler than jeans too.  I don't feel comfortable or appropriate working in skirts and dresses as you just don't have the same freedom of movement and of course you have to worry about flashing yourself to everyone around.

Back to today - with it being a fairly warm day and me intending to be indoors most of the day, I pulled out my black shorts (Fashion Express) and a taupe and white striped nylon 'knit' top (Pick 'n Pay - Cherokee) that is as old as the hills and my black pumps (Truworths) sadly, the black hose I wore laddered within 2 minutes of me putting them on.  No wonder they sell them in packs of three, it seems to me that you always ladder the first pair, no matter how careful you are :-(.

Casual Monday

And just like that, another Monday rolls around a month ago today was my last working day.  I really can't believe an entire month has whizzed by so quickly.
Today I needed to go to the bank to get documents signed and to see two creditors.  What I thought would be a fairly quick 1 - 2 hour outing ended up being almost four hours.
The deets : Jeans : OBR at Truworths | T-shirt : Pick 'n Pay | Shirt : Mr. Price (Mens) | Handbag : Woolworths | Bracelet, Earrings and Necklace : Kays Jewellers | Boots : Edgars
Schatz allowed me to indulge in the handbag pictured above when he sent me off to pick up a pair of boots from him at the Woolworths 50% off sale.  Tomorrow the clothing sale starts and I'm staying as far away as possible.

I've been hard at work getting my site sorted and am about 95% of the way.  Now to do some marketing - why is it so paralysing?

If you have a free moment, please visit my site and let me know what you think of it (just remember, its not totally done yet) and if you feel so inspired, please like the facebook page for Simply Sassy Photography.

A casual outfit

I haven't posted an outfit post in what feels like forever.  One of the reasons in that I've been wearing a lot of jeans since I'm at home and then on the days I've thought the outfit was worth photographing, I just did not getting around to taking pictures.  But today, as I stepped a little out of my new comfort zone, I thought I should share this outfit.  I wanted to wear something besides jeans or leggings and that's when inspiration struck - shorts with tights seemed like a pretty good idea to wear at home and also for running errands, without looking too tatty.  I'm considering wearing this out to Saturday lunch with a low heel or booties - I think I could pull that off.  I like that I could also wear this top with a number of my skirts and wear it tucked in or out and I think it would great with my skinny jeans as well.

The deets : Top : PQ Outlet | Belt : Woolworths | Shorts : Fashion Express | Tights : Woolworths | Pumps : Truworths \ Infinity bracelet : Kay Jewellers (a birthday gift from my sweet daughter Taryn)
Kay Jewellers - Infinity Bracelet
Isn't it gorgeous.  I had sent her an image asking if she could find an infinity symbol on costume jewellery but she said she could not, so she bought me the bracelet I sent as an example.  I adore it.  Thank you Miss Tanna.
Taryn and TJ are doing an engagement shoot this weekend.  I do hope that they're blessed with a magnificent sunset and a little breeze.

In other news - tomorrow my youngest officially becomes a teenager.  I can't believe it.  He's away on school camp and we're not sure if we'll be able to wish him for his big day.

I had a total hissy fit today!  I was working on my other Photography site and did a ton of work - at least 5 hours of it when suddenly the entire folder disappeared.  Well, I blew a gasket when the tech support at my host told me to calm down and proceeded to laugh at me.  I was put on hold for more than 5 minutes and then just killed the call.  I later got an email telling my problem had been resolved, however, my entire wordpress/prophoto site is gone.  I've asked that they restore it with their backup to what was there last night and am hoping that when I get up in the morning my site it there.  However, it seems that all my work from today is gone.  I'm reading up on how to backup my site locally in future - but then of course I'll need to remember to do it whenever I change something just to be safe.  I've raved about my hosting company often, who also happens to be our ISP, but since this is now the second time I've experienced this, my heart is a little sad and my faith in them is wavering.  So sad when a relationship of more than 5 years start to sour.

Black, pearls and denim on denim

A quick comfortable Sunday outfit to run to the stores.

Details : Jeans : Woolworths  Knit : Legit

One of the furry little criminals, namely Marshy ... with the look she gave me in the previous photo, I simply had to grab her up and take a picture with her.  She's a rather unaffectionate kitty, but we do love her all the same.

Schatz and I dropped the troupe off at their Gran for a visit and headed on out to buy new cat litter trays and a baby bath for baby Joshua.  We ended up getting him quite a bit more than a bath.  When we called Felicia, she said she was starving, so we headed to the hospital with food.  While Graeme was dropping off, they said she's be able to leave soon - it ended up being almost 4 hours later, but the little sweetie is snuggled up safe and sound in his home with his Gogo staying with for the night.

Hope your Sunday was great.

At the zoo

Graeme bought a Groupon voucher for a visit to the Pretoria Zoo.
We saw a white tiger, the bear having fun in water, we saw reptiles, monkeys, gorillas, cheetahs, snakes, sharks (something I remember from when I was a kid and we visited the Zoo with our headmaster, who happened to be our moms boyfriend for a time) reptiles, birds, deers, seals, a parrot that said 'hello' and more.

Courteney, Jarod, Liam and Me.

This morning my legs are sore - I can't remember when last I walked so darn much, but I sure realised how unfit I am.  I'm considering following the USN 12 week body makeover.  I will include the eating plan from Weigh-Less as I can't imagine myself eating the three meal options for dinner for a straight 12 weeks!

Casual baroque and denim on Friday

I bought this top with a baroque type design on it at Ackermans some time back and the quality is really super and this material is comfy and soft.
Baroque printed top with skinny jeans

Skinny jeans a grey wedge boots

Grey wedge heel boots
My boots I picked up last weekend from the Chinese store on sale.   I have been looking for a pair of grey boots since last winter and the price of these were great.   The wedge is super comfy and although I upsized a shoe size and they are a little loose on my feet but not to the point of flopping about.
The skinny jeans from Woolworths and bracelets are old friends. I have gained a little weight around my middle so the jeans are a wee bit tight and you can guess how badly I want to get out of them ;-).
Well friends ... it's almost weekend for me ... what are your plans?   My troupe are all writing exams so we won't be galavanting much which may mean I can get some fun time with my camera.
Happy Friday.

A little lace in Fridays OOTD

Friday dawned and I decided to mix two shades of pink ... The lace top is so soft and feminine and the pearl beads keep with the softness along with my beautiful pendant, then the cut of this blazer and boots speak of being strong ... Just how I like my outfits to be.

The days of uncertain weather

Autumn snuck up on us .. its been toying with us with promising of cooler weather but today, the temperatures started dropping.  Since our offices were like an oven yesterday I thought I'd get away with a last stab at Summer outfit.

Contempo
I went to do my vitamin shopping after work yesterday and had to pop into my favourite stores across the way from Dischem.  There were some interesting bits about and I behaved and picked up this set of bracelets at Contempo.   There were some interesting items in the store and I managed to behave and not bring anything else home with me ... but it was difficult.
There are such pretty knits, jeans and jackets in the stores.  With winter nipping at our heels, the stores will be doing serious winter trade this weekend.  I'm glad I've washed my coats and jackets and am as prepared for the cold as I can be.
